Meet the Picky Family
Ms.Picky ~ age 42. Homemaker and former elementary school teacher. Trying to lose 30+ pounds in the most healthful, least obsessive way possible. Main food shopper, chief cook, and bottle washer for the Picky Clan and the least picky of all the eaters in the household. Doesn’t like oysters or brussel sprouts, but will give just about anything else a go, much to her waistline’s dismay. MsPicky was recently informed by her naturopath that if she wants to control her hay fever and sleep better, she will need forego caffeine and dairy products. She is on, oh, about Stage 3 of the grieving process. Married for 17 years to….
Mr. Picky ~ age 45. High school math teacher. In the last year has managed to lower his serum cholestrol 100 points through dietary changes, nutritional supplements, and exercise. We are so proud of Mr. Picky! Doesn’t like soups, legumes, cherry tomatoes, raisins, mayonnaise, salad dressing, mangoes, and most casseroles. Whoever heard of someone not liking soup? See what I have to work with here? At least he’s not sneaking candy bars into the grocery cart anymore. Father to …
SonofPicky ~ age 11. Ate anything that moved except sugar until the age of two. Decided that cottage cheese and applesauce was the way to go for the next 5 years. Did not like anything sugary until the age of 5. Seriously. Has a peanut allergy. Tolerates beef and most chicken. Will try other new foods, but not willingly. Loves whole grains, dairy, sweets. Brother to…
PickyGirl ~ age 6. The vegetarian who hates vegetables. Putting new foods on her plate will send her screaming from the table. Hates: meats, eggs, vegetables, fruits, pastas. Loves: bread, bananas, baby carrots, apples, grapes, milk, mac n’ cheese, and cheese pizza. That’s about it. Sometimes she likes pepperoni on her pizza. We started a “try new food” chart; she gets a sticker for every new food she tries and will get a reward when she gets to 10 stickers. Other than that, we put out food she likes along with all the other meal choices and withhold judgment. Most of the time.

Hi there!
I’m a registered dietitian with a website. I’m wondering (and so are my visitors) why people keep diet blogs. So I have an offer for you…
I’d love you to tell my readers, in your own words, why you blog. You’ll get an entire page on my website devoted to your response, as well as a link back to your blog. (In return, I do ask that you give a link back to my site, maybe even link to MY blog.)
How about it? As an RD, I’m very curious as to what motivates people to blog about their eating, and whether they actually benefit. (I want to know whether I should recommend blogging to my clients and readers!)
Would you PLEASE participate? All you have to do is fill out the form at

I hope you will!
All the best in all your efforts,
